On Saturday our family walked in Wheaton for the Relay For Life. It is the 2nd year that we had a team. The weather was great for all of the walkers during the 12 hour walk.
Left to Right: Jack Airsman (family friend from Utah), Kami, Jace, Wanda, Janet, Kelly, Bodin, Keisha, Larry, Barb, Nevaeh, and Mason. Throughout the day, Kyle, Tom, Grandma Joann, and Grandpa Marvin joined us for some laps.
The first lap is the survivor lap and the second lap they are joined by friends and family. Mom has been cancer free for just about 2 1/2 years and counting!
"I WALKED"
I walked around a track today... I walked to help a disease go away.
I walked because there is a need. I walked that bodies could be freed.
I walked to give a small child hope. I walked to help someone cope.
I walked for a husband or a wife. I walked to give someone life.
I walked with my head held high... I walked for that one about to die.
I walked excitedly, not demure. I walked to help find a cure
I walked for everyone to see. I walked for you, I walked for me. The fire department came around and filled up the pools at everyone's campsite.
Nevaeh waited and waited for the truck to make it around the track to our site.
While you watch this slide show, please take a minute to say a prayer for our family and friends on the luminary bags, and say one for the people you know that have/had cancer.
